Smitha's Story

Chemotherapy. Radiation. Multiple brain surgeries. For Smitha Anand R S, a cancer diagnosis at 44 was just the beginning of a long road — one that eventually led her to the targeted therapy Retevmo.

Throughout that journey, Smitha found strength in learning. Meeting and learning from various doctors and fellow patients became one of the most valuable parts of her experience. She also relied on cancer support groups and medicine manuals to better understand her diagnosis and treatment options.

These resources helped her make informed decisions about her care.

“It helps to take informed decisions,” she says. “Almost every time I felt, I know more than the doctors.”

Cancer taught Smitha something important about herself:

“I am my biggest cheerleader.”

That belief helped her face each challenge with confidence and determination.

To maintain a positive mindset, Smitha continued doing the things she loves. Dancing, painting, and participating in community support activities became important outlets during treatment. She also shares these passions through her YouTube channel, where she documents her journey and interests.

One of the most meaningful realizations during her cancer experience came from seeing the impact her attitude had on others.

“The impact that I have on people by just handling cancer with a ‘Never Give Up’ spirit kept me going.”

She believes that if she can face cancer with style, grace, and resilience, others can too.

“I totally believe that it happened to me because I knew to handle it with style and grace. And if I can, so can others.”

For Smitha, cancer has never been the end of the story. Instead, it has strengthened her belief that there is still more to accomplish, more to share, and more to give back.

“There is lot more to give back to this beautiful world.”

Her advice for others is simple:

“Continue doing whatever makes you happy.”

And her message to anyone facing a similar diagnosis is even simpler:

“Cancer can’t defeat us.”

Through her determination, creativity, and unwavering spirit, Smitha continues to inspire others to keep moving forward, never give up, and believe in their own strength.
